New York Fashion Week Spring 2008

NEW YORK, Sep 6, 2007/ FW/ – An alumni of the UPS Hub, Alexander Terekhov designing under his own label Terexov returns to the tents to present his Spring 2008 collection that is fluid and feminine that once again highlighted the female form with elegance.
A very common mistake of young designers is assuming that showing a lot of skin is sexy and elegant, hence a lot of them miss the mark of what truly makes a polished collection.
Thank goodness that Alexander Terekhov did not fall into that trap, opting to show just enough skin to achieve what is necessary for sexiness, and keeping the collection perfect for the career girl whose wardrobe needs from power suits for work and floor-length frocks for formal affairs.
Playing on his strength of dressing the career woman, the Russian designer divided the collection into two segments – daywear which were composed mostly of dress suits, sweater dresses and separates that would fit nicely in an office setting, a power lunch or early dinner.
The second segment were the more formal floor length gowns and cocktail dresses, that once again were proposed in good taste, i.e., just showing enough skin to achieve sexiness but never the crossing the boundary for it to be risqué.
The seemingly simple construction belied the complicated draping and cutting to achieve a fluid look while keeping the silhouette sharp.
Terexov might be a new name in the New York fashion calendar and definitely just breaking into the U.S. market, but it would be surprising if next Spring, his creations would be hanging on store windows of major department stores.
