MILAN, Jun 23, 2007/ FW/ --- Taking the subtle way for once, Versace chose to focus on the sense of duality, creating new silhouettes by transforming the old. Double-breasted jackets were transformed into waistcoats as the trench coat was tailored down into a jacket. The fine fabrics, intricate details, and finishes are the Versace statements of luxury for the season.

While the collection did consist of some pieces that were signature bold Versace, this season concentration was focused on style that can work bi-climatically.

As global warming becomes more apparent and has become a worldwide concern, Versace realizes that the line between the traditional ‘spring & summer’ and ‘fall & winter’ seasons have blurred. Thus, a collection must be able to accommodate climate variations.

As Donatella chose to use light wools and cottons coated in silk protein, fabrics that allow for more versatile temperature changes, Versace broke new grounds as it converged style and science.

And although the daring luxury of Versace is all but absent, the classic elegant styles took center stage, adding a new element in the Versace DNA.

Light leisure colors of grey, sand and white laid foundation for the new dimensions of the line. Exaggerated volumes to figure hugging silhouettes fit in the styles that still portrayed the Versace man’s sensuality.

Jacket and pant duos of dimensional blacks triggered traditional Versace mystic and opulence. With new attention to details of contrasting collars and cuff, the subtlety of new design was still fresh and on top of its game. Suits in full sheen and with shiny details oozed the richness of Versace, with their high-tech and multi-functioning materials, who could ask for more.
