LOS ANGELES, Aug 11, 2006/ FW/ --- From PR guru to fashion designer, Kit Willow Michelmore’s lingerie inspired creations had gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2003 at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week.
In three short years since its inception, the label is now being carried at over 80 major boutiques and department stores throughout USA, UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.
And while Sydney continues to be Willow’s home, the label had been shown at London Fashion Week and in New York under the tents at Bryant Park.
With its auspicious beginning as a luxury, fashion-influenced boutique lingerie label providing elegant, timeless and sassy designs, it has moved into strong, feminine and romantic shapes while keeping its original concept.
Playing on the idea that the bra is jewelry, Willow creates changeable straps which acts a jewel like multi-strand fine chains with metal stars dangling randomly over the shoulder.
Willow’s quirky vision of ‘inside out’ dressing is unique and endearing. Seams that are inside out work like box pleats, a white spaghetti-strap bustier dress is overplayed with black chiffon while knickers are worn under billowy skirts that are parted in front.
Volume is controlled and embellishments are kept in check, sometimes just using buttons as adornment and geometrically shaped fabric as peplum.
Willow carries a certain allure, exactly as the label’s design philosophy says, ‘strong and feminine.’
