SYDNEY, May 6, 2005/ FW/ --- With good pals and MAFW no shows Sass & Bide making a front row appearance, friend and designer Kit Willow turned the old into the new by adding a new twist to the past, so much so, it actually looked a little sci-fi at times.
A disco ball backdrop, a 1980’s soundtrack and a capacity crowd accompanied jet beaded dresses that played with volume reminiscent of 1920’s flapper dresses, structured and stiff jackets and even Victorian evocative blouses.
Seams are evidenced by contrasting colour while refreshingly well done dull silver sequined tops and dresses recall armor and times Grecian princesses.
Willow played with polka dots, leaving long tops to elongate the torso and decorates shoulder straps, while sticking to a largely earth toned colour palette of olives, ecru, black and deep greys.
Bound to keep her celeb fans and clientele happy, Willow is one of those up and coming Australian designers that should be looked out for, hopefully coming soon to a store near you.
