NEW YORK, Feb 14, 2006/ FW/ --- Returning to New York for Fall 2006, Y – 3 brought magical undertones in an artistic way that it was hard getting back to reality once the show ended.

Like a roller coaster ride, Yohji Yamamoto gave his audience a thrill, telling a story with a beginning, climax and denouement, a beautiful story of sportive wardrobe with touches of white and dark magic like the cockatoo shown in jackets, hats and coats, either as a print or recreation of its feathers.

Black magic was symbolized by black feather, black flowers, and a hand holding a dagger embroidery that was encrusted with Swarovski crystals in an outer jacket.

There were even two brides! The first one was wearing a white cape with the iconic Adidas stripes on the cape, while the second bride was wearing a similar outfit, this time in black accessorized with a small dagger and black flowers.

The story told on the catwalk was beautiful, yet, it was the clothes that took center stage as pencil skirts were paired with double-breasted jackets, shirt dresses without a collar, sporting the Y-3 logo on its pockets were layered over with high-tech denim jacket, black poncho with the Adidas stripes worked in as chevrons, and slim fitting pants paired with sweaters and vests.

For men, down-filled vets and jackets were proposed for outerwear. Matching scarves and bonnets, kangol and baseball caps, neckties with Y-3 logo were the accessories of choice.

But, before you start thinking that this a logo-fest, take a second look at the collection and you will find that there are a lot of choices available from basics to fashion items that the logo becomes secondary in the grand scheme of things.

Directional and thematic, Y-3 gets better and better as each season passes, with Yohji Yamamoto being true to his craft while keeping the emblematic three stripes part and parcel of the collection.
