DALLAS, Apr 1, 2007/ FW/ --- Trust Yohji Yamamoto to raise the bar every season, which was exactly what he did for Y-3 last February when he proposed a wardrobe for college coeds and varsity boys that touches on almost every aspect of their campus and sporting life.
From mini skirts and sweater dresses for the coeds to striped suit jackets and bombers for the guys, Y-3 dressed them for classes and parties, including the weekend getaways that college students love.
Whether they are into skateboarding, biking, skiing and any other snow sports, Y-3 got them covered, literally and figuratively.
Biker jackets with the Y-3 logo, the three stripes shaped like wings, reminiscent of the WWII pilots’ epaulets, beanies with Y-3 logo, and jogging pants in nylon and knits.
What makes this collection memorable is the way Yohji Yamamoto expanded the Y-3 line to include ‘regular’ clothes without losing coherency. Staying true to the Y-3 DNA, which Yohji himself created, the extension from sportive clothes to street is seamless.
It’s Y-3 as we expect, but with so many surprises that if we blink, we are scared that we might have missed something.
And of course, there is the footwear! Sporting the very recognizable adidas stripes, no one forgets how the line Y-3 came about.
