Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto DALLAS, Nov 1, 2006/ FW/ --- A collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto and adidas that began in 2002 has blossomed into a luxurious sportswear line called Y-3 that has raised the bar on designer sportswear since its inception.

Known for his adept manipulation of movement and shapes, Yohji Yamamoto used his mastery of tailoring techniques and two-dimensional view of fashion as opposed to directional with the sportive line Y-3,

Building on the very distinctive three stripes that is also the adidas’ logo, Yamamoto created a new look for adidas trainers and a full wardrobe for both men and women, including bags and totes that would eventually become the status symbol of the sports crowd elite.

For Spring 2007, he forgo the bright colors of the season and opted for black and white, with splashes of orange and bold prints. The silhouette is comfy, with the three stripes and the Y-3 logo seen in almost every piece in the collection.

Playing with geometric shapes, Yamamoto also created checked trainers, striped flip flops and high heels with the distinctive adidas stripes.

Though the footwear were the focus, the clothes also took center stage with bloomer style minis, wide-legged Capri –length pants, floor-length sleeves dress tees, jogging suits, tank tops and bandeaus.

From the gym to the streets, including just lounging around at home, Y-3 is the wardrobe of choice for the fashion-conscious sports enthusiast.
