Malaikaraiss Show - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015BERLIN, July 29, 2014/ — From the press notes:

Berlin based designer Malaika Raiss, whose name means “angel” in Swahili, expresses a distinctive clean chic through her designs. Effortless, feminine but strong, Malaika Raiss designs fashion with subtle coolness and plenty of feel-good factor.

Malaika Raiss was born February 21, 1985 near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. After her graduation from the University of Mannheim, Germany, with a degree in fashion design, her path took her to Berlin in Summer 2008.

She started out working as a junior designer and subsequently as a freelance designer and consultant for multiple Berlin brands, including Sabrina Dehoff. Meanwhile, with her work for campaigns and editorials she also established herself in creative direction.

In 2010 Malaika Raiss took the next step to self-employment. Guided by her dreams, in the perspective to finally realize her own ideas, she put together a team of young creatives. In the heart of enchanting Berlin, collections emerge under the label MALAIKARAISS.

From the beginning, commercial success and profitability have played a decisive role in developing new collections – Malaika Raiss sees herself not only as a creative but also as a business woman.

The look of MALAIKARAISS is optimistic, strong and soft at the same time – and edgy if needed.

Clear silhouettes are combined with innovative fabric developments, knitted yarns with a unique haptic sense, as well as expressive print-designs, are the focus of the ready-to-wear collections.

Close to the spirit of time and a big passion for detail, Malaika Raiss and her team are developing conceptual high-end fashion with a fun-feminine twist. Essential pieces made by women for women, which are as strong and changeable as the character of their wearer.

The collection includes women´s ready-to-wear, knitwear, leather-accessories and a small selection of fashion jewellery.
