Mannequin

Aug 8, 1999 / FW/ --- Abstract articulation has slid into the '80s with the greatest of ease, as have sports mannequins which actually began running and leaping through stores in the late '70s and have ridden right on into the '80s.

Pucci sports figures emphasized their action even more by being painted in bold, bright colors. Vogue International has taken its mannequins from the jogging path to the dance studio.

And the pastel figures of D.G. Williams can be found at the Dance Theatre Schlappi's boys play soccer. Female bicyclists by Poil Kyoya of Japan exude competitiveness.

The liberation of the '80s continues. "Let's get physical" thrives. Whether tall of short, petite or large, black, white, yellow, pink or purple as in New Wave), every "body" is getting a chance to have a very big "say" in the display arena... even the children, the Nissen kids with their pouts and turned up noses.

Yes, all those bodies speak out loudly. The question is, "Are you listening to your mannequins?" And do they speak the language of your customers?
