PARIS, Jan 28, 2006/ FW/ --- Though history has not recorded who is the inventor of the mannequin, the French has always been credited for it existence. And for those who are interested, mannequins are alive and well in the country of its birth, France.
At the Display Studio (Mannequins de Vitrine) and Reflets De Paris in the third arrosdisement of Paris, mannequins grace the window not as plastic sales people, but as the merchandise themselves.
From realistic mannequins, to sculpted heads, from headless forms to just torsos, including artistic renditions of the genre, there are a lot of styles to choose from if you are in the market for mannequins.
Alright, for those of you who are expecting a blog about the Paris Menswear Show, let it be said that both Display Studio (Mannequins de Vitrine) and Reflets De Paris are just cutty corner from the headquarters of Jean Paul Gaultier located at rue St. Martin.
The photos were taken after the Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture show; so technically, it was not the menswear season yet.
Nevertheless, it’s just good to know that the French are taking care of the mannequins, which incidentally is part of their heritage, fashion and otherwise.
