DALLAS, Apr 12, 2004/ FW/ --- If you are one of those lucky American Express Centurion Card (a.k.a. the Black Card) holders, then you will also own an Alexander McQueen creation when you are issued your new card.
American Express announced this week that the British designer would be designing the fifth anniversary limited edition Centurion Card. The card is available by invitation only to AMEX Platinum card members.
This is the third time that Alexander McQueen will be designing a limited edition card for American Express. The first time was in 1998 when he created the first designer card for American Express Blue and the second time was in 2001 for the Limited Edition American Express Gold Card inspired by sketches from McQueen's Fall 2001 collection.
The synergy between Alexander McQueen and American Express has been going on for almost a decade. The card company sponsored Alexander McQueen at the London catwalks when he was still considered an emerging designer.
To celebrate the revived partnership, Alexander McQueen and American Express will go back to the London runway on June 3 when the designer hosts a black-themed catwalk show, a “Black Art” exhibition and a preview of the Centurion Card. This also marks the return of McQueen at the London runway for the first time in three years.
