LONDON, Jan 12, 2004/ FW/ --- If Britney Spears madcap marriage ended in an annulment within 55 hours, jazz singer Diana Krall and rock singer Elvis Costello are in wedded bliss.
The couple had been dating publicly for one year before they tied the knot last December at Elton John’s mansion in Surrey, England.
"The wedding was a private event with close friends and family in attendance," Shore Fire Media, Costello's public relations firm, said in a statement.
According to Canada’s Globe and Mail, there were about 150 guests, including Paul McCartney and Canada’s consul general to New York, Pamela Wallin.
Elvis Costello, 49, who was born Declan MacManus, and took Elvis Costello as a stage name, has written about 300 songs, which have either been recorded by himself or other artists.
In 1998, he won a Grammy in a collaboration with Burt Bacharach, and was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last March 2003.
Canadian Diana Krall, 39, is considered the current superstar of Jazz.
Raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Krall’s first album, “When I Look Into Your Eyes,” was the first jazz album to be nominated for Best Album of the Year at the Grammy’s.
Billboard Magazine named Diana Krall as the top jazz artist for 2003, and called her a “jazz superstar.” A potent pianist and vocalist, Diana Krall, dominated the chart the past year for jazz.
