DALLAS, Apr 26, 2004/ FW/ --- Jade Jagger, rock royalty and Creative Director of Garrard launched her fine jewelry collection last week in New York with a bash rivaled only by the parties given by her mother Bianca Jagger during the height of Studio 54’s popularity.
Held at Ian Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel. Jade assembled the original Studio 54 team -- Ian Schrager, Robert Isabell and renowned Studio 54 doorman Mark Benekie for one night only -- and Bianca, Calvin Klein, Brooke Shields, Kelly Klein, among others.
Established in 1745 in London, Garrard had been the British royal family’s official jeweler since the reign of Queen Victoria. For a short time, it was known as Asprey & Garrard, when its former owner, Brunei Prince Jefri Bolkiah merged the two venerable British brands.
In 2000, the two houses were sold to Laurence Stroll and Silas Chou for $150 million and in 2001, the new owners decided to unmerge the two brands and decided to market them separately.
In the Spring of 2001, Jade Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger began designing for Garrard, catapulting the company in becoming an avant-garde British jeweler and giving it a hip image, appealing to a younger crowd.
The party held last April 22, 2004 in New York introduced Jade Jagger’s new collection featuring diamonds and a kaleidoscope of colored stones.
The guest list looked like New York’s social register and fashion who’s who with Iman, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg, Robert Kennedy Jr, Amanda Hearst, Barry Diller, Ellen von Unwerth, and Tara Rockefeller among the guests.
