PARIS, Nov 26, 2004/ FW/ --- Several of France's leading fashion houses will be in Doha,Qatar for a fashion show to promote French elegance and cultural savoir-faire.
The fashion show will take place as part of the cultural, political and commercial exchange extravaganza organised at the joint initiative of Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Qatar Tourism Authority and the Embassy of France in Doha. It will take place from December 5th to December 10th.
The objective of the event is to promote the quality and the savoir-faire of "made in France" among the Arab populations of the region. Three events are scheduled around the theme of "France Exposes: Two Cultures, One Experience.
The fashion show, appropriately titled "Expérience Elégance", is the most glamorous and perhaps the most highly anticipated of the planned events. Traditional qatarien custome will open the show which stars some of France's leading names in haute couture, couture and ready-to-wear. Among those participating are grand couturiers Christian Lacroix and Jean-Paul Gaulter, who will respectively show 17 and 37 silhouettes.
Also showing are Azzaro, Nina Ricci, Jean-Claude Jitrois - the king of stretch-leather, and
the couture world's hottest wunderkind and boy-couturier, Emymeric François, just back from a
whirlwind tour promoting his collections in Japan and Kazhakstan.
The "Experience Culture" event proposes a retrospective of a century of French culture featuring famous singers. And the "One Expierce" event will bring together France and Qatar at a Gala to officially close the celebration. A spectacular display of one thousand lights will illuminate the night skies of the Bay of Doha, in a technical exploit that will demonstrate multimedia and new technologies ties between the two countries.
This wonderous event, which will take place at the edge of Doha just in front of the Ile of Trois Palmiers, will spread over an area spanning 1000 meters. It will be adorned and dressed in the guise of the streets of Paris.
Fashion Windows will be along for the trip to the desert emirate and will be delivering a full report on its events to our readers!
