Tommy Hilfiger To Host Latest Reality TV Show

DALLAS, Aug 30, 2004/ FW/ --- Fashion has a new addition to reality TV. New York-based designer Tommy Hilfiger, in collaboration with CBS is looking for the next “America’s fashion trendsetter.”

An award winning designer, Tommy Hilfiger will host the series with the working title “The Cut” wherein 16 design hopefuls will compete for the grand prize of designing his or her own collection under the Tommy Hilfiger label.

It’s “America’s Next Top Model” meets “The Apprentice” but much more. With Craig Piligian as executive producer, this mid-season series scheduled for 13-episodes promises to be the “Survivor” equivalent for fashion.

Piligian, who was the co-executive producer for “Survivor,” "Survivor: The Australian Outback" and "Survivor: Africa," is expected to put twists in the weekly challenges that the contestants will face as they live together in a loft in Soho and given real fashion world challenges that range from business acumen, sales and marketing expertise, resourcefulness and style IQ.

Each week, Hilfiger and his "Style Council," which will consist of guest advisors, will rate the hopefuls on their results and cut one contestant.

According to contest rules, entrants must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen and live in the United States. He or she must be willing to travel to one of the following locations nearest them for the preliminary interview:

  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Miami, FL
  • Dallas, TX
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Boston, MA
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Kansas City, MO
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Washington D.C.
  • Contestants has to create a 3-minute video answering the question, “Who are you and why would you make the next great fashion designer.”

    Deadline for submission is on Friday, September 24, 2004, 5:00 PM, Pacific Time.
