LAS VEGAS, NV, Jan 15, 2004/ FW/ --- Television has ESPN, which covers a diversity of sports.
Then, there is CNN, which is dedicated to news. And how can we miss MTV & VH1 which are both about
music.
Now, there is WA-TV, the first ever English-language, Asian-themed television network.
This January 17, 18 and 19, at the NATPE 2004 Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas,
WorldAsia will launch WA-TV, and fashion designers Vivienne Tam, Yeohlee and Zang Toi will
kick off the event with "Elements of Style" - a dynamic runway fashion event featuring
pieces from their Spring/Summer 2004 collections.
WA-TV's mission - to embrace "all things Asian" with spotlights on celebrities, music, fashion,
food, health, technology, comedy, sports and other areas, all with an Asian flare.
In capturing this objective, WorldAsia will present its first annual event in Honolulu,
Hawaii – “Xentopia”: Celebration of Pan-Asian Entertainment.
This event is anticipated to be the largest convergence of people on American soil
gathered to enjoy Asian-flavored entertainment with an estimated 40,000 attendees expected.
Xentopia will take place from March 25 – April 1, 2004 and will offer eight days of
action-packed, celebrity-driven events on the beaches and under the stars, including music,
dancing, fashion shows, comedy, sports and a $100,000 chess contest.
Additional events scheduled are: Xentopia Live, Eastern Shake, Club Series, Shaolin Stunts,
Dragon Boat Competition, Yin & Yang Hookups, Take Out Comedy and I-Z Chess.
WorldAsia will offer a sneak peek into Xentopia and Elements of Style with periodic fashion
shows at their booth (#1827) on January 18th and 19th at the Sands Expo Center + Venetian
Hotel.
Three showings will be available on both days at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
