MILAN, Mar 31, 2005/ FW/ --- "ITS only a fashion competition…" yet, somewhere between the old
and the established surges the new.
Where creatives of tomorrow take centre stage and bask in the light that is usually reserved for those who already have a place.
ITS, now preparing for the fourth edition, is one of those initiatives that keeps the hope alive for the emerging graces of fashion, and with Diesel as the major sponsor since the very first year, believing in the great potential of the event, futures and recognition seem all of a sudden a hell of a lot brighter.
ITS, which stands for “International Talent Support,” is dedicated to students and young designers worldwide.
Taking place in Trieste in the North East of Italy from 14-17th July, the competition which is open to all recent graduates and fashion students, is not simply one of those any which way tries at launching new talent.
Instead ITS rather, offers tangible and concrete support through real money prizes (7 awards in all) and single prizes like that of the Diesel Award which grants the winner a label, 5 item collection produced by the jeans giant with distribution worldwide in their most significant stores including Milan, NY, Paris and Tokyo.
Hence it is no surprise that this initiative continues to capture the curiosity of fashion know its, know how’s and istas worldwide. Judges in the past include giants to the likes of Isabella Blow, Antonio Marras, Ennio Capasa, Wilbert Das, Richard Buckley, Hilary Alexander and many more.
Truly, it is no wonder that in the first year alone, 42 countries and 460 applicants took part in ITS#ONE.
