2005: The Year In Fashion

DALLAS, Dec 14, 2005/ FW/ --- 2006 is just around the corner and it is time to look back at 2005, which turned out to be a fascinating year for fashion.

The U.S. started the year with American designers making the headlines as the First Lady Laura Bush and First Daughters, Barbara and Jenna chose to don creations by American designers - Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, Derek Lam and Lela Rose dress

Meanwhile in Paris, couturier Emanuel Ungaro was named to France’s Legion of Honor.

Relationship between the U.S. and EU became better, not because of Washington diplomacy but because of fashion as Uma Thurman became the face of TAG Heuer and Florida-based Falic Group buys the House of Christian Lacroix.

In Milan, Just Cavalli opens new concept store during the Milan Menswear season.

February proves to be exciting with the kick of the New York Fall 2005 season. JLo by Jennifer Lopez debuts under the tents of Bryant Park, while Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York graces the Heart Truth: The Red Dress Collection catwalk for charity.

The Milan Moda Donna (Milan Womenswear Show) Fall 2005 season was in full swing when designer Stella McCartney gave birth to a healthy baby boy in London.

And on the eve of Paris Prêt-a-porter Fall 2005 season, Hilary Swan won Best Actress while wearing a Guy Laroche creation and Jaime Box named Best Actor donning an Ozwald Boateng suit, during the Academy Awards.

As the preview of the Paris ready-to-wear collections was just finishing, Italian Riccardo Tisci was appointed Creative Director for Givenchy couture and womenswear.

During the same month of March, Korean Air unveiled in Seoul the new uniforms of its cabin and ground crews designed by Gianfranco Ferré.

In Paris, the renovated luxury hotel Hotels Hotel du Petit Moulin opened with the new interior decoration designed by Christian Lacroix.
