Gianfranco Ferré PARIS, Mar 3, 2006/ FW/ --- Going on at the same time with the Paris Prêt-a-porter season is the Italian Song Festival in Sanremo, the capital town of the Italian Riviera. Held annually, the Festival di Sanremo attracts Italian musical artists and celebrities.

This year, Gianfranco Ferré dressed Italian star Ron a series of silk velvet blazers in different shades of blue, green and brown for the festival matched with classic tuxedo pants. Worn without a necktie over sportive shirts, the tuxedo look was achieved with the cut and tailoring of the jacket.

Luca Tones, host of the March 2nd event of the Festival di Sanremo also chose Gianfranco Ferré for his wardrobe.

Still, it was the women who took center stage with Gianfranco Ferré frocks. Marta Cecchetto, Claudia Cedar, Francesca Lancini and Vanessa Hessler also chose to wear Gianfranco Ferré creations.

Dressing them in a kaleidoscope of shapes and colors, Gianfranco Ferré chose to build on fluidity and volume to define the female form. Using couture elements such as embroidery together with transparent fabrics, sensuality was achieved with certain mischievousness without being vulgar.

Commenting on dressing the four biggest stars of Italy, Gianfranco Ferré said in a statement, “Interpreting the attractiveness and grace of four famous women for the Sanremo Festival is intriguing and fascinating. Fashion is a universal message, not only of elegance, but also of joy, fantasy and passion that it brings to us all, just like the poetry that vibrates in the work of Fellini…”
