LOS ANGELES, Mar 19, 2006/ FW/ --- Was it only two weeks ago when one of the Paris’ Daily Blogs discussed the ‘Power of Music in Fashion’ specifically rock & roll? Here in Los Angeles, the synergy between fashion and music plus cars is more pronounced, with custom Fender guitars on display at Smashbox Studios.

Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, where fashion, music and cars are part and parcel of pop culture, where what a Hollywood star wears and drives affect inspire fashion and car designers.

To celebrate this synergy, the Southern California Mercedes-Benz dealers invited celebrities and fashion designers to decorate a Fender Telecaster donated by Fender guitars.

All 10 guitars will then be auctioned off to support the ‘Drive Your Future Design Awards LA’ that will benefit the scholarship program at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FiDM).

The new scholarship ‘Mercedes-Benz DRIVE YOUR FUTURE Design Awards LA’ is sponsored in part by the Southern California Mercedes-Benz dealers together with Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA).

It will be partially funded by the auction of one-of-a-kind Fender guitars personally decorated by Hollywood’s hottest stars including famed rocker Slash, supermodel Carolyn Murphy, pop star Mya and world champion skater Tony Hawk. The guitars that are currently on display at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios at the main tent entrance will be auctioned this spring.
