Red Engine Jeans LOS ANGELES, Mar 26, 2006/ FW/ --- Jeans are so much a part of our everyday lifestyle. From low rise to jeans that sit on your natural waist, from straight cut, to boot cut, tapered or skinny, it seems there is a pair of jeans for everyone and anyone.

And though it is not surprising that almost everyone we know owns at least one pair of jeans, what is unanticipated is the rise of the popularity of jean shorts.

‘With the current fall/winter buying season going on, it is amazing the amount of order we are getting for jean shorts,’ a Red Engine Jeans spokesperson told FW while visiting the company’s booth during the Design Suite exhibition at HD Buttercup.

‘The big orders for jean shorts for the summer was expected. It was a pleasant surprise to see the same numbers for fall and winter,’ the spokesperson continued.

Yet, after witnessing the Fall 2006 international fashion season where mannish clothing took center stage and actually one of the major trends in New York, Milan and Paris, the rise of the popularity of the jean shorts is logical.

For a long time now, both men and women have worn jeans with a suit jacket. The once lowly denim, which was once upon a time only worn by blue-collar workers, had transcended economic classes.

With women wearing menswear-inspired clothing that include knee-length shorts as part of a suit, the jump from high-fashion to jean shorts is inevitable. And Red Engine is witnessing that transition, partly because of the current trends, but more importantly, because of the popularity of the Red Engine label itself.

With the label’s 19 different washes and more than 12 different styles on their jeans line alone, there is an abundance of styles to choose from.

The label’s jean shorts also comes in different washes, from midnight vintage to ink, then to the more fashion conscious green, chocolate brown and white. Hence, mixing and matching is a breeze!

With fashion designers proposing tights and leggings for Fall 2006, layering them under jean shorts is also an option. Think Sarah Jessica Parker in ‘Sex & The City’ wearing jean shorts and high heels! That’s a visual that a lot of young girls have imprinted on their minds.
