A cultural icon in Milan, the Teatro Alcione has been retrofitted to become Teatro Versace under the supervision of architect Rocco Magnoli of Studio Spatium, whose previous works include the Halkin Hotel in London and the Palazzo Versace (hotel) on the Australian Gold Coast.

Located in Milan’s Piazza Vetra, the district right behind the beautiful historic Milanese San Lorenzo Church, the Teatro Versace has been retrofitted to be a multi-purpose venue that will house at least 4 runways shows a year, showroom presentations, conference and special events.

The entire space was completely redesigned and subdivided to adapt to the different requirements of the abovementioned events and still respect the historical importance of the building.

In this new arrangement, the original oval stall areas will provide seating for about 1,000 people with a new runway stage in the center of the space.

The original balconies and the gallery will be removed and all the structural apparatus for the scenery and lighting will be positioned around the oval area.

The ceiling of the old theater will be reinforced by the construction of a metal framework that creates a light, yet strong internal shell, about one and a half meters from the walls and terminating in a cupola, featuring walkways at a number of different levels to highlight the perfect oval shape of the design.
