‘Fashion For Peace’: A Pre-Fashion Week Catwalk Presentation

NEW YORK, Sep 1, 2006/ FW/ ---Fashion is not just glitz and glamour. It can also be involved with world affairs, such as the ‘Fashion for Peace’ catwalk show slated today at the Gansevoort Hotel in New York.

A charity fashion event, ‘Fashion for Peace’ benefits The Business Council for Peace (Bpeace), an organization that works to support women and build communities in areas of global conflict.

Featuring Patrick and Fabrice Tardieu of Bogosse, makers of fine mens shirts, Natasha Ulyanov for custom evening wear, KVG Luxury Lounge Wear by Natasha Ulyanov and Kelly Van Gogh and Pamela Boudreaux of Tullee Couture and Millinery for vintage-inspired designs, ‘Fashion for Peace’ is the first ever catwalk show to be held at the Garden Ono at the Gansevoort Hotel.

The funds raised during Fashion For Peace will help Afghan, Rwandan and Iraqi businesswomen in the Bpeace program gain the training they need to expand their businesses.

Believing that jobs translate to less violence, Bpeace, is a non-profit coalition of apolitical businesspeople who volunteer help women in conflict and post-conflict countries build sustainable businesses.

Garden centers, beauty salons, textile and craft industries and construction and basic service businesses thrive and stand for the re-building of peace.

Guests of the event will enjoy champagne, cocktails; hors d'oeuvres from Ono restaurant and the fashion runway show beginning at 7 PM. Before and after the show, guests can personally meet with the designers, each in their "boutiques" in the cabanas lining the central garden, where their trunk show collections will be available for sale beginning at 8 PM until 9 PM.

The fashion show will feature runway models provided by Model Management Group (www.nymmg.com). MMG is one of the most recognizable model and talent management companies worldwide with a roster of fashion, commercial print, and promotional models, actors, and recording artists.

Expert make-up artist and eyebrow specialist Ramy Gafni (www.ramy.com) will be showcasing his work. Hair by KVG Prive and Bergdorf Goodman's John Barrett Salon. Jewelry for the Bogosse show is provided by Martin Schettini.
