Works of Designer Christian Dior In Germany Exhibit

DALLAS, Jul 25, 2007 / FW --- The House of Christian Dior, which celebrated its 60th anniversary with an unforgettable catwalk show at Versailles last month is the subject of the ‘Christian Dior and Germany, 1947 – 1957’ exhibition at The Museum of Applied Art in Cologne.
With focus on the works of Christian Dior himself, ‘Christian Dior and Germany, 1947 – 1957’ is the first exhibition to show the internationally renowned couture house’s diverse ties to Germany.
According to the official announcement of The Museum of Applied Art, “180 exhibits, among them 20 haute-couture designs from German museum collections as well as numerous accessories, present the immense richness of the diverse fashion lines of Christian Dior (1905-1957).”
Seldom seen and shown original sketches of Christian Dior himself, along with large-format fashion designs from internationally recognized illustrators such as René Gruau und Walter Voigt, will also be exhibited.
These illustrations “an impression of the extraordinary imagination and creative power of the prominent couturier.” In addition, newspapers and fashion pictures from famous photographers such as F.C. Gundlach or Willy Maywald document the contemporary context.
