NEW YORK, May 16, 2007/ FW/ --- Award-winning designer Stephen Burrows just added another feather in his cap as Shenandoah University in Virginia bestowed him the 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
The prestigious award, which is formally called ‘Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ is presented every year by Shenandoah University’s business school to an individual whose life is marked by entrepreneurial success. Previous recipients include Ted Turner.
"Stephen Burrows represents for us the true meaning of an entrepreneur - one who stays focused on his goals and passion and remains true to his dream in the face of any challenge. His resounding message to the students was, 'never give up,'" said Dr. Miles Davis, associate professor of management and director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship.
A true fashion icon, Stephen Burrows is the first African-American designer to achieve international acclaim with his signature palate of vibrant colors and an approach to cut and modern silhouettes that has kept him at the forefront of fashion.
Last year the CFDA honored Burrows in recognition of his distinctive artistry and achievements as a fashion designer awarding him the Board of Director's Special Tribute.
Burrows has also been recognized by the American Fashion Industry with a star on New York City's Fashion Walk of Fame. His distinguished career in fashion also includes three American Fashion Critics' Annual Coty Awards and the Knitted Textile Association Crystal Ball Award.
