NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2008 / FW/ — Robin Hood hats, hunting boots, riding capes and traveling cloaks, the legendary British heroine, the Maid Marian, Robin Hood’s wife according to myth, brought to life by Carolina Herrera in her Fall 2008 collection.
It’s a woodland theme, but not rustic. Slim fitting trousers, windowpane vest and printed long-sleeved blouses with the traditional bow on the neckline could as well be a riding habit. The traveling cloak was updated with a wider cut and shorter hemline while the coat was made luxe with fur trim and silk lining.
The 21st century Maid Marian is not just about riding britches and capes. Carolina Herrera has also envisioned her as a graceful woman who wears evening frocks and dresses that are flowy and feminine like the strapless floor length gown in platinum brown to the charcoal gray frock in matching red vest.
A strong, coherent and directional collection, Carolina Herrera once again demonstrated why she is one of the pillars of the New York fashion scene.
