MoschinoMILAN, Feb 23, 2008 / FW/ — Big hair that is reminiscent of the 1970s punk and military inspired coats, jackets and suit dresses in blue and black, Moschino combined quirky and whimsical with solemn and formal, creating a timeless and elegant collection.

With a play in texture, traditional roles of adornments and embellishments were reversed.  Buttons that are normally closed were left open and became decoration. Ruffles were inserted on the collars and sleeves of menswear-inspired coats and jackets.

Silhouettes are slim, with a 1970s vibe; trousers are straight and lean on the formal side (think John Travolta of Saturday Night Fever without the disco reference), hemlines are short, again 1970s aura and not the 1960s micro minis.

In fact, there is a certain irony here. Though the main characteristics of the collection refer to the 1970s, the 1960s simmer underneath, even bubbling, but was never allowed to go out and play.

Fringes made of yarn trailed jackets and trousers are as strong a statement as the double-breasted military inspired coats and the chromatic degradé on flared pants adorned with grommets and/or sequins.
