MalloniMILAN, Feb 27, 2008 / FW/ — If you look back in time to men and woman’s societal roles you may not believe that indeed we are living in the same world. Fabio Malloni and Floriana Orsetto comment on just that, with their women’s Fall Winter 08/09 collections. Malloni’s androgynous woman is not only a woman of these times but also a woman of the future. She sees her role in society as that of what she is capable, and the Malloni woman is capable of a lot.

Using sensual yet not sex defining designs, Malloni plays with forms, material and natural elements to create clothes that ground the woman. Loose silks flow in the wind as structurized neoprene catches it. These dichotic fabrics create a mix of movement and stagnancy that revolve around the woman on whom they drape. An example, a pair of beautiful full pants paired with a bronze embellished delicate silk top are complimented and contrasted by the stiff angular neoprene jacket.

The blends and combinations are daring and intriguing at the same time. Forms and rules are constantly toyed with as collars refuse to follow traditional rules. Colors are an array from the Sonoran Desert from the shades of green of the cactus and the blacks and grays of the shadows, to the sands that range from vanilla to red. The woman is futuristic and rustic at the same time, as the colors could have also very well come from a barren foreign planet.

The collection, with all its protest to traditional society, still stays grounded and conceptible. The form and fluidity of the fabrics and garments are put together with such an artistic touch that the unified look is really something quite new and refreshing. Malloni continues to grow in name as they also grow in their design confidence and this Fall Winter collection is a perfect example.
