DALLAS, May 3, 2008 / FW/ — Last February in New York, Peter Som designing for Bill Blass proposed tuxedo jackets and mannish clothing for Fall 2008. Borrowing from men’s wardrobe is nothing new, yet Peter Som’s treatment for Bill Blass is refreshing, even ‘girly’ to a certain extent.

‘Girly’ sounds contrary, especially with sloping shoulders on the jacket and slashed pockets on the trousers; yet, Peter Som cut the white blouse close to the torso emphasizing the female figure then made the tuxedo bow bigger and actually knotted it like a the way a girl ties ribbon on her hair!

It’s not to say that the whole collection is manly. Peter Som proposed structured silhouettes that are very feminine though he avoided being saccharine sweet when it came to the term ‘girly.’
