LOS ANGELES, Mar 16, 2008 / FW/ — In what is arguably one of the best collections for the Los Angeles season, designer Erik Kim proposed a very tight, coherent and directional collection that is high street urban wear for Monarchy Collection.

LOS ANGELES, Mar 15, 2008 / FW/ — It was during the Fall 2004 season when FashionWindows first covered Samora. It has been 4 years, a total of 8 collections that we have seen from the Los Angeles-based designer. Season after season, Samora has shown growth and become more decisive in her cuts and execution. Her Fall 2008 collection is not an exception.

LOS ANGELES, Mar 15, 2008 / FW/ — Creative and as entertaining as ever, Maggie Barry designing for the label Xubaz was a little bit of punk, a little bit of rock & roll, and a little bit of sophisticated metro girl.

Farah AngsanaLOS ANGELES, Mar 14, 2008 / FW/ — Last time FashionWindows covered Farah Angsana was in 2003 during the Spring 2004 Paris Menswear season. After five years, it is good to see that the Zurich-based designer is doing very well.

Farah Angsana has menswear, ready-to-wear and couture lines. Though she showed during the Paris Haute Couture season, albeit, off-calendar, it is good to note that she is actually showed a different collection here in Los Angeles, i.e., a real fall collection instead of just repeating her Spring 2008 couture collection.

With the Hollywood red carpet in mind, Farah Angsana proposed gowns and cocktail dresses with couture elements from encrusted Swarovski crystals to lace overlays. Regal and beautiful, the collection would attract the glitterati of Beverly Hills. Yet, if Angsana is also targeting the regular Southern California folks, this collection is too formal for them.

LOS ANGELES, Mar 13, 2008 / FW/ — Shannon Nataf and Dimitry Tcharfas designing under the label Suh-Than is one of the great & pleasant surprises for me at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios; their Euro-American silhouettes are standouts.

Presenting both men and women collection, Suh-Than used a very avant-garde approach to dressing, similar to what is seen in the London fashion scene. Classics had been reworked and retrofitted to come out with very modern approach like the keyhole neckline on a floor length frock, V-neck made into a ‘slash’, and slim fitting trousers that seemed to be the center of the collection because it went with almost everything that were proposed.
