Anabela Baladaque Spring 2005: The Art of Femininity

PARIS, Nov 10, 2004/ FW/ --- One of the most pleasant surprises from the Paris Spring Summer 2005 ready-to-wear season came from Portuguese designer, Anabela Baladaque.

In only her maiden presentation in the city of love, Anabela Baladaque brought to Paris her spin on elegance and femininity. Muslin dominates this creative collection from start to finish.

Her wide pleated skirt with ruffles in a soft gold lame was complimented by an exciting two-piece ensemble repeated in the same fabric.

The muslin in her pieces creates the illusion of movement. Her top, which is done in muslin, along with its skirt is perfect. It has an attractive band-like strap belt. It was embellished with details at the waist for an added element of charm and seduction.

I particularly like the lightness and easy feel of Baladaque’s semi-bloomer skirt. I too greatly fancy the striped pants ensemble and its beautifully feminine fabrics. The ensemble features a cross-your-heart jacket cut just above the waste.

The collection is not an in-your-face type of sexuality. However, there are pieces capable of raising many an eyebrow or two. The little white dress, with shoestring straps is very coquettish. It’s just what girls will need in order to help them ease into full womanhood.

Her dress with a bustier and skirt each has a great deal of details, which embellish them every aspects of the garment. Bows and little gift packages can be found intelligently integrated into the clothes. Some pieces have tasteful embroideries.

Her little knee-knocker pants with ribbons at the knees have convinced me that this type of garment will have its place in fashion next season. I at first was skeptical about the idea and was ready to fight against it. However, Baladaque’s mastery of them has changed me into a staunch ally and supporter of knee-knockers as part of style trends for Spring/Summer 2005.
