PARIS, Oct 4, 2004/ FW/ --- Bless brought the Streets of Paris to Le Carrousel du Louvre on the first day of Paris fashion week.
Suspended sheer screens hung and covered the runway and Paris' street scene was illuminated. However pretty to look at, with a “show within the show” concept, it was quite difficult to see the clothes being presented.
On top of that, “regular people” and not professional models were used. Hence it made with quite hard for the photographers to shoot because the “models” did not have any idea how to show off the clothes and when to stop and how to pose for the photographers.
It was more of a presentation with the models weaving in and out of the screens to make them a part of the street scene. With bad lighting, non-professional models, and quite difficult circumstances to shoot, a large numbers of photographers walked out in the middle of the show!
The “street fashion” presented had some interesting highlights though. Bless showed adeptness with layering and creating volume. A standout is the fabric “cowboy chaps.” Used as a top layer over clothing, the “cowboy chaps” was gathered at the hemline, with little holes on them to fit perfectly on the toes.
It was interesting to look at, but it was also obvious to see that the models were having a hard time walking due to it.
Hopefully next season will be a better scene. Guests were already grumbling before the show because a number of “uninvited guests,” as in “a friend of a friend of a friend” were allowed in before invited guests were let in.
So, it was not surprising that quite a number of attendees like several photographers left even before the show ended. A very lamentable and sad fact, because the show production was well thought of, but found quite lacking in the execution.
