Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2006: Modern Drapery
New York Fashion Week Fall 2006
By Randal Jacobs
NEW YORK, Feb 9, 2006/ FW/ --- One can throw a Saga fur on anything and make it an uber outfit. Costello Tagliapietra gave us very simple silhouettes in a rainbow of pale blues. As a fur raccoon hat opened the show accessorized by a classically cut tan dress, it seemed as if the hat was the main attraction.
The collection became more intense and detailed with shawl and cowl collar dresses. The mixture of pool, sky and baby blue was very relaxing along with the dark browns and tans.
Every skirt and hem had a swing and or drape to it. The shapes of the garments were highly flattering to many natural women sizes. Plunging necklines were a sexy addition to the suspender straps on the back of dresses. A pair of high-waisted pleated large trousers gave balance to the sea of dresses.
As Saga started Saga finished with a dynamic natural raccoon caplet that was remarkably amazing. Not to mention the over sized fur muff that was strategically thrown in at the climax of the show, it just goes to say that animals do have their place in fashion.
