David Rodriguez Fall 2005: Interesting Mix of Outfits

NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2005/ FW/ – In a varied timeline, Rodriguez crosses decades in search of the sophisticated lady for his autumn winter 2005/06 collection.

Tailored womenswear is the California native’s prime focal point. Neat and essential looks come face to face with the contemporary, turning his wardrobe into an eclectic mixture of style.

Seventies style flat fronted trousers that fall straight and flare from the thighs are matched with jersey turtle neck sweaters and little cropped jackets with gold buckles, though he adds and takes volume to overcoats and jackets via darts and pleats.

Rodriguez chooses his fabrics with care. Whether it be mink, lambskin, cashmere, silk jersey or herringbone, the designer turns it into his personalized version of the 1930’s.

‘I love the strong androgynous style of Amelia Earhart photographed standing next to her plane exuding a sense of power through ability and drive; and in sharp contrast, the long and fluid silhouette of Mona Von Bismarck as photographed by Cecil Beaton, exuding her own sense of power through privilege.’ Rodriguez explains in his press notes.

Torso’s are shortened and breasts accentuated as he crops jacket lengths and adds ties to garments reminiscent of something from the empire line. Leather is perforated and patterned for jackets or used as trim on collars and detailing on the rear of overcoats.

Though not his best collection, there is an interesting mix of outfits for the lady who desires classiness with a twist of strong willed attitude.
