DALLAS, Apr 6, 2005/ FW/ --- The birds might be migrating south for the winter, but Swiss
designer Dorothée Vogel made sure that the spirit of freedom and splendor of these lovely
creatures stay with us while they are away.
Her Fall / Winter 2005 collection that was presented in Paris last March during the Prêt-a-porter season is signature Dorothée Vogel, elegant bohemian chic featuring furs, metallic fabrics and original prints.
In collaboration with Zurich-based artist Alexis Saile, Dorothée developed a new print this season, a different kind of check that has been inspired by a photograph of a roller coaster.
Seen in tops, fur-trimmed coats & jackets and in dresses, it added a graphical element in this very tailored and structured collection.
And of course, the “bird” that is seen as prints and pins is the fun element. Charming, bold and abstract, the new bird makes its appearance on tees, skirts and jackets, where it settles down in the form of a glitter bird.
And if you’re wondering why there is always a “winged creature” in every Dorothée Vogel collection, it is because “vogel” means bird in German.
Deliciously delightful, Dorothée’s strength lies in her ability to mix “raw” and “finished” in one collection without losing coherence. The leather jacket lined with sheep shearling is riveted right by the placket that is cut uniformly from top to bottom.
Then Dorothée turns around and creates a 4-button trench coat in khaki that is finished off with pink piping.
And that is what makes every Dorothée Vogel’s collection very eye-catching. It’s a convergence of elements that seem disparate, yet like musical notes they create a rhapsody that stays with you for a long time.
