DALLAS, Nov 15, 2004/ FW/ --- Inspired by Diana Vreeland’s words, “Allure is something that exists. It’s something around you… like a perfume or a scent. It’s like a memory… it pervades,” Dorothée Vogel translated the concept into reality with her Spring 2005 collection.
Morphing a bird and a butterfly that resulted into a mythical figure only found in legends, Dorothée Vogel converged the nobility and beauty of these creatures, interpreted as freedom and the memory of something very dazzling.
Choosing citric yellow and light blue, the colors of summer, the Zurich-based designer created trench coats, day dresses, Capri-length pants, and scarf dresses with handkerchief hemlines.
Slim silhouettes with soft shapes that hug a woman’s body generate a sensuous and alluring feel. And yes… the collection is all about allure… And like Diana Vreeland’s words, it pervades like perfume.
Dorothée Vogel even found time to be playful; creating a shirt that says,
“Le freak c’est chic,” referring to the morphed bird and butterfly that of course does not
exist in nature, and just a product of her fertile imagination.
Standouts are the trench coats that look beautiful inside and out. The fabric used in the lining is as luxurious as the one used outside. Most eye-catching is the deep purple knee-length coat. Outside, it is as formal as it could be. Yet, inside, it is a kaleidoscope of color and prints, with the beautiful drawings of oversized herbage and butterflies in black and yellow and brown.
