NEW YORK, Feb 5, 2005/ FW/ – In a place where there are neatly kept hedges and fountains, perhaps in an English garden somewhere near a castle and pre-dinner drinks are served to opera music renditions of recent hits, Steven Cox and Daniel Silver behind the menswear label Duckie Brown put punk into tailoring.
The duo, one a Hilfiger ex pat, the other an ex TV producer sent out 27 looks of flannel, wool and corduroy in bold colors of grass greens, yellows, pinks and purples pumping up their contemporary male wardrobe.
Punk elements and layering are at times Westwood inspired, like the cashmere long johns that become outer wear and the tartan trouser that vary in lengths, but nonetheless manage to hold their own in this fun collection.
Jackets are sartorial and often have boredom relieving beaded details, perhaps a cherry on the back of one of the shoulders, or eyes beaded behind to see who’s watching you.
Trousers are generally flat fronted and cords become the new denim. Pants are either comfortable and allow for active movement almost army-like in style with external functional side pockets, or rather work to create a slim dressed up silhouette.
Lightly psychedelic with sparkling metallic hints, this is a menswear collection for the light hearted and fun dressing.
