Dupré Santabarbara: A New Voice In Haute Couture

PARIS, Nov 12, 2004/ FW/ --- While others are bowing out from the made-to-measure craft, two young French designers are throwing their hat in the starry spheres of high fashion.

In Oct 2001, Michel Dupré and Christelle Santabarbara decided to mix their universes to create the couture house to be known as Dupré Santabarbara.

Armed with an unusual design philosophy – “to transform hosiery into high-fashion confections, by mixing it with fabrics’ characteristic of the Haute couture or the high-fashion ready-to-wear,” the design duo went on to new creative shapes, playing with elasticity, fineness, transparency, patchworks and “trompe l’oeil” works.

The result, a “Black Widow” signature look that conveys the spirit of a woman with mystic sensuality and a fiery refinement, who livens up established conventions.

Supported by the LVMH group and the Paris town Hall, Dupré Santabarbara have been developing partnerships with different brands and organizations (DIM, Espace Paul Ricard, Atelier Renault, DMC, Illy café, Goyard, Solstiss, Schwarzkopf, Fédération française des dentelles et broderies, Levi’s, Le Printemps)

Dupré Santabarbara, since January 2002, have been presenting their Couture collections during the Haute Couture weeks in Paris, and distribute a range of up-market ready-to-wear products, in limited editions.

By the end of 2003, Dupré Santabarbara won the creation prize from the Paris mayor’s office in recognition of their work.

Since January 2003, Dupré Santabarbara participate as guest members on the official Couture calendar, thanks to sponsorship by the fashion house of Jean-Paul Gaultier.
