Erin Fetherston Haute Couture Fall 2005: ‘Through The Looking Glass’

PARIS, Jul 10, 2005/ FW/ --- With the absence of Ralph Rucci from the official haute couture calendar, budding American couturier Erin Fetherston made sure that Old Glory flies proudly during the Paris season with her high fashion interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through The Looking Glass’.

Fittingly held at the Baccarat Museum located at Place des Etats – Unis (United States Plaza), Erin Fetherston immediately captivated her audience with the elaborate stage that was decorated with the characters from the book – a lion, a rose, chandelier.

Dressing up 15 characters from the children’s tale, the young American designer began with ‘Alice’ wearing a devore velvet dress with square neckline and tulle sleeves.

‘Rosebud’ followed wearing a Denholme velvet coat with flared collar and gathered hemline, resembling a rosebud, of course.

Fetherson’s creativity and imagination shone through. The 1871 children’s book came to life in 21st century haute couture style.

There is no doubt that Fetherston has talent and her imagination seems endless. Add to it that she is young and beautiful, too. When she came out wearing one of the pieces from the collection, the audience thought that she was one of the models.

With her golden locks and big smile, she could be Alice in Wonderland herself. Yet, don’t allow her young age to make you think less of her as a designer. Give her a few more seasons and she will be considered a major talent in both the sides of the Atlantic.
