NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2007 / FW --- Erin Fetherston has a penchant for creating collections based on a fairy tale. So, it was not surprising that for Fall 2007, her muse was the 1907 George Méliès film ‘L'éclipse du soleil en pleine lune’ (The Eclipse), a fitting tribute to the Frenchman who was one of the spearheads of the science fiction / fantasy genre.

Hence, when Zooey Deschanel, who played Trillian in the movie ‘Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy’, opened the show singing ‘Dream A Little Dream of Me’, the sci-fi connection was complete.

But, if some were expecting galactic amazons on the runway, they were entirely off. This is Erin Fetherston known for her dreamy clothing that is almost ethereal; that even when using heavier fabric like velvet, Fetherston can make it look fluid and flowing.

So, when Lily Cole came out wearing a spaghetti strap silver mini dress paired with silver leggings, Fetherston’s fan gave silent sighs of relief.

Sticking to her signature style of very fluid silhouettes, Fetherston sent out empire minis, rompers and trapeze dresses. One shoulder ensembles were seen on empire gowns and dresses with asymmetrical hemlines. Generally, Fetherston emphasized the shoulders proposing strapless tubular minis.

Though Fetherston did not break any grounds this season, she demonstrated a very well-versed knowledge of the runway, wherein she allowed the clothes to do the talking but provided enough drama to catch & keep the attention of her audience.
