MILAN, Mar 11, 2005/ FW/ --- Many designers are holding on to a romantic fairytale in their lives. With reality being so bleak with terrorism and natural disasters, I suppose it is good that designers are trying to get their customer minds else where into thinking about a happier less stressful period of the world.
Romantic is what designers are saying and Gibo is heading the effort with a highly inspiring and fun collection.
The staging stated simple opulence with a golden runway and a chandelier dangling above. Bright gold outfits hit the runway with high hem lines. Russian inspired riding boots and skirts with feathered hem lines were outstanding. Other skirts were adorned with ruffles of lace. Gold lame threaded shirts in a variety of greens and metallic shades matched the runway and scenery.
Large hats were the take home message in the accessory department. Tassels were on boots along with other smaller hats that matched most outfits throughout the collection. Gibo is always noted for their hat collections which can stand on their own.
Puff skirts and well crafted wool coats followed in softer shades. Burgundy and brown took over the runway with beads on cuffs of suits and lapels. A floral print dark brown suit was notable along with a few more Victorian inspired items. Pleated slips were shown underneath satin dresses. Crochet tassels also were mounted onto large knit sweaters.
Gibo is always innovative and creative and this collection served its purpose to the legacy of the youthful label.
