LOS ANGELES, Oct 21, 2005 / FW / --- Signing his third collection at Smashbox Studios, Iron designer Leejay Mintz aptly entitled his collection ‘Venus’ as his inspiration for Spring 2006 comes from the universe.
His press notes indicated that the collection is about the colors that are above us. Moving around a women’s shape, like the planets move around all of us. His designs are his art gallery comes to life and he transforms his original paintings into prints for women’s clothing. To Leejay, “every woman is a piece of art.”
With Mimi Rogers seated front row, the house was buzzing and full of energy altogether anxiously awaiting the show to begin.
Showing 32 looks which included tank dresses, mini dresses, swimwear, and boy shorts, Leejay incorporated metal elements and beads on his multi colored canvas as in past seasons as well as some solids and of course your basic black.
Along with the metal elements and beads, knotted accents together with, cut outs, twists, cowl neck and slashed effects all worked well with his patterns molding the silhouette into the piece of art that can only be Leejay’s.
His accents and embellishments are never overwhelming or overly done. It’s always just the right proportion and has that hint of edginess all the while managing not to loose that innocence.
Leejay is a Los Angeles designer with a light and airy concept intertwined with the colors of the universe.
