Iron Fall 2006: ‘Every Woman Is A Piece of Art’

LOS ANGELES, Mar 22, 2006/ FW/ – On a unique catwalk that featured one of his paintings, Leejay Mitz, designing under the label Iron previewed his Fall 2006 collection with the same inspiration as in seasons’ past – his own paintings translated into prints in fabrics constructed into an inimitable outfit.

‘Every woman is a piece of art,’ said Mitz in his short and sweet press notes, and that’s exactly what he did with the 39 looks that he previewed today at Smashbox Studios.

Yet, although it was the same inspiration season after season, Mitz manages to make his collection fresh every time. Another one of his accomplishments is that Mitz make the term ‘wearable art’ palatable, wherein in most cases, it leaves a bitter taste in a fashionista’s mouth.

Since his debut on the Los Angeles runway in October 2004 (Spring 2005 season), Mitz’s dabbling into the practical art of fashion has continued to evolve into very wearable and covetable pieces.

This season, he chose jersey as his main fabric, he presented them in solids as well as in wavy prints cutting them in a very light and airy silhouettes and continuing to give that very sexy lean look to each piece.

From asymmetrical hemlines to floor length and gowns, Leejay certainly has the right to stick to his vision for it certainly works quite well dressing the West Coast ladies from Newport Beach to Malibu.

With Apolonia seated front row wearing one of his pieces, showing that both young and the not so young can certainly carry his creation given the right attitude and physique.

This season his embellishments came by way of leather, beads, grommets and metal carefully and delicately placed in all the right places to enhance each piece.

Just when Iron has you wondering what else can he do with the same concept, Leejay shows and proved that his creativity and artistry has no bounds for he has grown and improved from last season.

And one might ask, why did he present bikinis as part of his collection for fall? Well…why not? California weather can get quite warm during the fall/winter months enough to stroll down the beach looking sexy and stylish as ever.
