J. Lindeberg Menswear Spring 2008: Sophisticated Ease
Milano Moda Uomo (Milan Menswear) Spring 2008

MILAN, Jun 24, 2007/ FW/ --- With wind blown hair and fresh tans the J. Lindeberg models strutted down the runway with an air of strength and power. In a desert palette of sands and clays the colors were anything but potent, it was the sophisticated ease of the designs that gave the image of a survivor.
From desert to city the show slowly transformed from light tans and stone colors to a richer more city black. Inspired by the Mexican desert the beginning of the show was very much like masses of sand, in that colors were monochromatic with minimal pigments. Pants were loose as pleats and Jodhpur inspirations added ease and movement.
Fabrics of natural fibers had modern finishes to give a better hand and function, one of which was ultra thin and translucent cottons. In the desert stage of the show the models were dresses with layered cotton shirts and cardigans that monochromatically matched the tailored jackets they were paired with. Color and prints were obsolete as the only hints of real color came in the form of large mineral rocks and crystals used as pins.
As the models were transformed from desert dwellers to city survivors the colors of the city slowly seeped in. Black, cement and limestone came in a variety of sheens and weights. The whole show played with translucent fabrics that were meant not only as a fashion statement but also a aid to the heat and weather.
You could tell the inspiration was coming from somewhere with a beaming sun. Sleeves and pants were rolled up, the later of which exposed the bare ankles then classic shoes. Based on formal eveningwear and sharp tailoring J. Lindeberg is continuing to prove it’s talent, as a brand, to keep classic new and stylish.
