DALLAS, Nov 20, 2003/ FW/ --- Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion passes, style remains.”
So it is not surprising that New York-based designer, Jackie Rogers who was once a Chanel model and trained under Mademoiselle, and absorbed the style and techniques of her mentor, commented, “I don’t believe in fashion, I believe in style.”
That’s Jackie Rogers, a true renaissance woman! She was a big band singer, Hollywood starlet, denizen of Rome’s La Dolce Vita, Chanel’s favored mannequin, successful New York model, and finally, entrepreneur and a fashion designer.
From this life experiences, Jackie Rogers has a very sophisticated point of view on a lot of things, fashion included.
A designer who is not much in following trends, and usually breaks her own path; the Jackie Roger’s Spring 2004 collection she presented last September in New York is not the usual formulaic seasonal presentation.
Full of beautiful dresses, pantsuits and gowns, the garments can be worn almost year round.
The opening piece, a multi-colored sequined gown is worth an MTV video appearance, and it can also be worn during an art exhibit opening at the Met.
The denim satin trim short jacket and the stretch denim suit with bias navy trim can go almost everywhere and anywhere, be it shopping, lunch, a weekend get-away, even work.
And the gowns are so seductive and alluring, they are sure head turners whoever is wearing them.
Fashion forecast from Jackie Rogers – hats are back and swept-up hair for formal wear is the way to go.
