SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 23, 2005/ FW/ --- Presenting men, women and swimwear collections for Spring / Summer 2006, Joseph Domingo was all set in launching his ready-to-wear line.
Already well-known in the Bay Area for his made-to-measure creations, his Post Street studio and boutique has entertained San Francisco’s social set for years, providing for them one-of-a-kind gowns, bridal ensembles and suits for men.
‘I’m ready to go back to pręt-a-porter,’ Domingo told FW in an after show interview. Domingo whose creations used to be sold in specialty stores nationwide during the early 1990s got out of the sportswear business as he concentrated more on custom-made clothing.
Alternating between fluid and architectural silhouettes, Domingo’s creations are deliciously pretty, chic and comfy. Easy to wear with lots of mixing and matching, it’s a timeless wardrobe that can goes beyond trends.
Hip hugging trousers that flared towards the hem, pencil skirts that accentuate the figure and cute sleeveless sundresses, Domingo’s mastery of technical skills in tailoring and draping took center stage.
As beautiful as the daywear are, it’s in the evening gowns where Domingo excelled, sending deep V-necks and figure enhancing ensembles that are sensuous without being overt.
It’s really too bad that the original plans for San Francisco International Fashion Week fell through, because it would have been a great launching pad for a local talent in the Bay Area.
Yet, as Shakespeare said, ‘All’s Well Ends Well.’ Domingo’s design talent shone through despite the mitigating circumstances of the day.
