Kevan Hall Spring 2006: Perfect Fit For The Red Carpet
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios (Los Angeles Fashion Week) Spring 2006
By Heide Winkenwerder
LOS ANGELES, Oct 17, 2005 / FW / - Kevan Hall opened the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios and he took us on a journey to the Lost City of Atlantis for his Spring 2006 collection. He envisions a city gleaming with intricate tiles and mosaics covering a labyrinth of exquisite buildings.
Juxtaposition between the city and the natural beauty of the coral reefs, sea kelp reaching toward the light and the delicate sea creatures translate into fluid gowns, pearl encrusted separates and washed brocades as he mentioned on his press release.
Showing 43 exits of luxurious, sexy, and elegant pieces using hues in oyster, white pearl, red and pink corals, sea greens, aqua blues, and stunning anemones. With this inspiration, he designed coral branch beading and style lines on jackets and dresses with crystals mixed with pearls.
The pieces were all created using luxe fabrics such as linen, cotton, lace, chiffon, silk, silk crepe, crepe, taffeta, French Lyon Lace, tulle, crinkled chiffon and silk chiffon all transformed into the very tantalizing fantasy like show created by this good designer.
Detailing and embellishments were kept to a minimum still keeping the luxuriousness and glamour intact not going over the top.
Standouts include the black French Lyon lace ballerina dress with wide sash, splash confetti beaded tulle gown with light green sash, ice blue water crystal beaded sarong silk chiffon dress, fire splash silk ombre chiffon gown with twist and the sea glass beaded yellow/green ombre silk chiffon gown.
Hall’s creation is truly a perfect fit for the red carpet affair. And if you aim to have a little fantasy with your fashion, then you best look out for Kevan Hall’s Spring 2006 collection when it hits the store windows.
