Kevan Hall LOS ANGELES, Nov 8, 2005/ FW/ --- Kevan Hall’s design talent emerged as early as his high school years at the Cass Technical High School in Detroit where he won first place as ‘Designer of Tomorrow,’ which incidentally also won him a scholarship at the Los Angeles-based Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

His graduation from FiDM also marked Kevan Hall’s second design award, receiving the Peacock Award for ‘Outstanding Fashion Design,’ in his senior year.

Launching Kevan Hall Couture in 1982 with his wife and partner Deborah, the label was carried by Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, I. Magnin and other fine stores nationwide, a harbinger of the Detroit native’s coming commercial success.

The commercial success of Kevan Hall Couture was followed by a serried of industry recognitions: one of ‘California’s Top Designers’ (1988), ‘Soul of Seventh Avenue’ from Fairchild Publications (1989); ‘Great American Designer’ award from the NACCP (1989).

In 1992, he was honored by the Center of Performing Arts in Southern California with a 10-year fashion retrospective.

In 1997, he branched into motion pictures and acted as costume consultant for ‘Gridlock’ and ‘Eve’s Bayou,’ the most successful independent film of that year.

That same year, Kevan Hall was approached by Halston to take the position of Design and Creative Director of the historic fashion house. Designing 4 collections for Halston (Fall 1998 to Spring 2000), Hall revived the dormant brand to its former glory.

His sleek eveningwear was worn by a distinguished coterie of celebrated artists - including Celine Dion, Sharon Stone, Angela Bassett, Charlize Theron, and Salma Hayek.

After his stint with Halston, he launched his signature line, Kevan Hall Collection in 2002, and debuted at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios during the Spring 2005 season wherein A-list celebrities that included Laurence Fishburne sat front row.

Adhering to his design philosophy of emphasizing purity of style, incomparable tailoring and sensuously draped streamlined silhouettes, Kevan Hall’s natural design sense of sophisticated elegance shone through.

"I enjoy the process of design from concept to execution," Kevan Hall states. "But the most gratifying part is seeing a design come to life on a beautiful woman."

Rejecting trends and fads in favor of a lasting signature look, Hall's hallmark of glamour with a modern sensibility is a priceless gift to the welcoming world.
