NEW YORK, Sep 10, 2004/ FW/ --- When we were being born in this world, our mothers had to wear shapeless maternity dresses trying to hide the bulge in their stomachs.

That change during the 1990s when stylish maternity dresses became available for pregnant women. Thanks to Liz Lange, expectant mothers do not have to wear seven dresses (one for each day of the week) during the nine months of their pregnancy.

Launching Liz Lange Maternity about six years ago, Liz Lange put maternity dressing into high gear; her name becoming synonymous with a modern approach to classic style.

At the heart of her style is a profound understanding of American sensibility and beauty mixed with a contemporary edge.

In August of 2001, Liz Lange became the first designer ever to partner with Nike to design an exclusive line of maternity athletic wear.

Shortly following in August 2002, Lange became the newest designer at Target stores.

Although Liz Lange made her mark with a basic maternity wardrobe, today she is also known for her elegant and sophisticated offerings in eveningwear, ready-to-wear, and athletic wear, as well as her first book Liz Lange Maternity Style.
