Matthew Earnest: A Rising Star Since The Word Go

NEW YORK, Sep 6, 2005/ --- Matthew Earnest became the first student at Parsons School of Design (alma matter of Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Isaac Mizrahi et al.) to ever launch a fashion collection during New York’s Fashion Week while still enrolled.

Earnest’s show received a tremendous response from the normally jaded fashion industry, which flipped for his instinctive talent. The collection was featured on E!/Style’s “Fashion Trance,” “Fashion Insiders,” Metro TV’s “Full Frontal Fashion,” and in Women’s Wear Daily, Daily News Record, Paper Magazine, Houston Chronicle, Chicago Tribune and the Associated Press.

In addition, Fashion Group International awarded Matthew the prestigious “Rising Star” award in women’s apparel design.

In his formative years, Matthew knew that he had a natural gift towards the visual and design, but inspiration came when Earnest met with fashion luminaries and fellow Texas natives Tom Ford and Todd Oldham while in college at the University of Texas.

After hearing Ford and Oldham’s stories of what life was like while learning the ropes of the New York fashion world, Earnest knew that moving there to pursue a career in fashion design was his dream occupation.

He left UT in 1999 and enrolled in Manhattan’s legendary Parsons School of Design. While still a student, he was selected by Surface magazine to design a commercially viable line of T-shirts and the line was subsequently featured in a prominent nationwide ad campaign for Fruit20.

The designer formed the company Matthew Earnest, Inc. in April 2002 and has successfully designed four ready-to-wear men’s and women’s collections in New York to rave reviews from press and industry.
